All too often caregivers don't have the time or opportunity to tend to their emotional needs as helathcare professionals. Thanks to donors like you and a legacy gift from a 1906 Heritage Society member, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital welcomed back the Schwartz Center Rounds. These lunchtime sessions allow nurses, doctors and other caregivers to come together to discuss the most difficult emotional and social issues they face in caring for patients and families. The first Schwartz Center Rounds were held in December and were attended by nearly 100 employees who were grateful for the opportunity to talk about their experiences.
"The therapeutic impact of sharing on healing is so palpable," said one attendee.
Thanks to a planned gift from a grateful patient, there will be four sessions this year devoted to nurturing patient-caregiver relationships to strengthen the human connection to the heart of healthcare.
