Imagine coming to the doctor's office for care but being deaf and trying to communicate directly with yoru physician. It can be hard enough to keep up with medical terminology, much less with a hearing impairment. Thanks to donations to the Wentworth-Douglass Foundation, patients who come to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Wentworth Health Partners Offices will now have access to video remote interpreting.
These video remote interpreting units provide interpreting services for limited English proficiency, deaf and hard of hearing patients. As Communications Manager Sandy Payne expressed, "It is nice to know that with just a touch of a button, patients and their families will have immediate access to language services providing exceptional care and a great patient experience."
Sandy, like many of her colleagues, applied for funding from the Wentworth-Douglass Foundation. This process empowers Wentworth-Douglass employees to identify a project, great idea or new initiative and request that philanthropy make it possible. These funding applications inform the Foundation Board of Directors of the best ways your gift can strengthen, enhance and grow the care at Wentworth-Douglass.
