Staying Well

Let Us Help You Quit Smoking

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's Pulmonary Medicine Department offers counseling to help patients quit cigarettes and other tobacco products.

One-on-one sessions with a Respiratory Care Practitioner focus on your desire to quit, define your individual needs and set step-by-step goals to help you succeed.

Your doctor will need to refer you for smoking cessation counseling, which is approved by Medicare and most insurance carriers for up to eight visits.

If you are interested in counseling, talk with your primary care physician today. You can also contact Pulmonary Medicine for more information at (603) 740-2752.

Why Quit?

Cigarettes contain many hazardous substances that damage the lung when inhaled, including tar nicotine, carbon monoxide, and cyanide. Long-term exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke and/or repeated respiratory infections also can increase a person's risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder.
