Education

You’ve heard about bariatric surgery from friends or family. Maybe you’ve done research online. But now you want reliable information, to decide whether surgery is right for you.

Information Session

Bariatric surgery is a life-changing procedure, so it’s important you get all your questions answered. That’s why the first step in your journey is a free informational session, followed by a Q&A, where you’ll hear from board-certified surgeons, our team psychologist, our program administrator, and past patients of bariatric surgery. Session topics include:

  • The pros & cons of bariatric surgery
  • The different types of surgery
  • The expertise & support provided by Wentworth-Douglass Hospital
  • Patient testimonials

Determining if You Qualify

If you haven’t been able to sustain a healthy body weight through diet and exercise, surgery is an option. To enter the program, you also need to:

  • Be at least 18
  • Have a BMI of at least 40, or a BMI of at least 35 with other resultant health issues (called comorbidities), such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and others
