Learning to manage your diabetes is an important step in living a healthy lifestyle. Diabetes Services is here to help. We provide individualized diabetes education and self-management training for children and adults, in private and small group sessions.
Our certified diabetes educators and registered dieticians work in cooperation with your physician and your entire health care team to help you reach your goals, whether you have Type 1, Type 2, Pre-Diabetes or gestational diabetes.
After an initial visit, we will tailor a plan that's right for you. This may cover:
You may be referred at any time by yourself, your doctor or other healthcare provider. You will need a prescription or referral requesting diabetes self-management education from your doctor if you would like insurance coverage for services. Build a Better Diet
This class is perfect for you if you’ve been recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes or if you are looking for a simple nutrition refresher class. The class is FREE and takes place at the Wentworth-Douglass Professional Center, Dover, NH. Classes are offered both in the morning and afternoon.
Build a Better Diet: Family
This class is perfect for parents with children ages 5 – 17 who wish to eat better as a whole family. You may have children with health concerns or just want them to eat healthier as they grow. Classes take place three times a year and meet at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Garrison Wing Auditorium A & B.
Road to Success
This is an in-depth program to help you learn skills to manage your diabetes, offered as either an all-day program or a 4-part series. This program is covered by Medicare and other insurances. Referral required.
Type 1 Community Meeting
This is a community of adults with Type 1 Diabetes that meets quarterly from 6-7 PM at the Wentworth-Douglass Professional Center. It is led by Dr. Michael Davidson.
Free Monthly Education and Support Group
Join our monthly group for education, camaraderie, and support. Meetings held monthly at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.
Diabetes Services also offers a Sharps Exchange program for the safe transfer and disposal of needles and sharp supplies from our patients with diabetes. It is held in the Main Lobby at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Bring your old sharps container and we’ll issue you a new one.

Monthly Support Group for Parents of Children with Diabetes
We meet monthly to share ideas, resources and engage in conversations about parenting children with diabetes. Call us for upcoming dates and times.
Families are encouraged to participate in many of our Diabetes Camps. Space is limited. Individual program brochures will be available 2 months prior to each event and will include registration and fee information. Scholarships are available through the Wentworth-Douglass Foundation.

A spring family weekend getaway that provides an environment where children with diabetes, their parents and siblings can bond, grow and have fun together with other families. Held in the beautiful Ossipee Mountains of eastern New Hampshire. Activities range from hiking, outdoor recreation, canoeing, and other active participation. Families have full use of the facilities in a safe environment, accompanied by medical staff and talented camp leaders. Open to families with children ages 5-17.
FOR TEENS ONLY
A fall weekend adventure for teens with diabetes that gives the opportunity to interact with others who face the same challenges in a fun, adventurous environment. Teens are supervised by professionals experienced in diabetes management.
Camp Hot Shots
A week-long day summer camp for kids with diabetes. Children enjoy crafts, sports, games and bonding with other kids who have diabetes. Diabetes Education is integrated into daily activities. Children are supervised by professionals experienced in diabetes management.
