Diagnostic Cardiology

Cardiac Catheterization

Using X-rays in combination with contrast dye to evaluate your coronary arteries for blockages or narrowing.

Intravascular Ultrasound

A test that uses sound waves to see inside blood vessels.

Fractional Flow Reserve

A technique used in coronary catheterization to accurately measure blood pressure and flow through a specific part of the coronary artery.

Coronary Intervention

Cardiac Angioplasty/Atherectomy

Placing a small balloon on the tip of a catheter inserted into a coronary artery to open up an area of narrowing in a blood vessel.

Cardiac Stent Placement

Delivering a small mesh-like tube to a blockage in a coronary artery to assist in keeping the blockage from re-occurring. Our cardiologists offer options for drug-eluting and bare-metal stents, depending on a patient’s condition.

Pericardiocentesis

Inserting a small tube into the protective sac around the heart to remove excess accumulated fluid.

Electrophysiology (EP) Ablations

Helping to correct a heart arrhythmia through a catheter. Ablation cauterizes cells to eliminate heart rhythm abnormalities.

Intracardiac EP Studies

A technique that uses a catheter to assess the electrical activity of the heart.

Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) Ablations

Using ablation to treat heart rhythm disturbances that originate in the upper heart chambers, referred to as supraventricular tachycardia or SVT.

Device Implants

Pacemaker Insertion (PPM)

Implanting a small electronic device in the upper chest to help regulate electrical problems of the heart.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs)

Implanting a small electronic device in the upper chest to help manage life-threatening abnormal heart rhythms, like ventricular tachycardia.

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT)

Implanting a special cardiac pacemaker to help synchronize your left and right heart ventricles to restore your heart’s proper mechanical sequence.

Loop Recorder

An implantable loop recorder (ILR) is a single-lead electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring device.

Peripheral Interventions

Inferior Vena Cava Filter Placement/Removal

Implanting a medical device into the Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) to prevent fatal pulmonary emboli (PEs). Surgeons can either insert a permanent IVC filter or a removable filter in an endovascular procedure, which means via the blood vessels.

Fistulagram

Inserting a small tube into a dialysis fistula using contrast dye and an X-ray.

Angiography

Inserting a hollow plastic tube, like an IV, into a blood vessel and then a catheter into an artery or vein, while using an X-ray and contrast dye, to visualize any narrowing or disease.

Angioplasty

Opening up an area of blockage with the use of a small balloon on the tip of a catheter.

Stent Placement

Using a small, expandable coil to assist in opening up, and then keeping open, an area of a blood vessel that is blocked.

Peripheral Thrombolysis

Infusing clot-busting drugs into a blood vessel to break up and help dissolve blood clots.
