DOVER, NH – Heart disease is the leading cause of death of women. During the month of February, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital will co-host events on the Seacoast as part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement to help educate the community about women’s heart health.
Get to know your risk for heart disease on Monday, February 12, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Wentworth-Douglass at Pease, 73 Corporate Drive in Portsmouth. Experts from Wentworth-Douglass and the Mass General Heart Center will be offering education, interactive displays and giveaways to the public.
On Friday, February 16, at noon, join cardiologists Whitney Coppolino, MD, of Wentworth-Douglass, and Malissa Wood, MD, of Mass General’s Corrigan Women’s Heart Health Program, for a discussion of the newest guidelines and advances in women’s cardiac care. Lunch will be provided. This event is free. Registration is required by calling (603) 740-2818 or at wdhospital.com/events.
“Understanding your risk factors and discussing them with your healthcare provider is an important step every woman can take to help reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke,” says Dr. Coppolino. “We are pleased to offer these education and awareness opportunities in partnership with Mass General’s experts on women’s heart health.”
