DOVER, N.H. – Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Wentworth Health Partners (WHP) welcome Dr. Jean Touchan, to our Cardiac Care team. A board-certified internist specializing in non invasive cardiology, Dr. Touchan will provide care to patients at WHP Cardiology at Pease and at the WHP Cardiovascular Group in Dover.
Dr. Touchan earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo in Syria in 2010, and completed his internal medicine residency as the Chief Medical Resident of the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville in 2014. More recently, Dr. Touchan completed a fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and has practiced as a locum hospitalist at both St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, KY, and Poinciana Medical Center in Kissimmee, FL.
Along with consulting, Dr. Touchan will perform transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), cardioversion, stress tests, echocardiograms, nuclear imaging, at both Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
“I like the culture and the patient-centered approach to care. The opportunity to help grow the cardiology practice in Pease is intriguing,” says Dr. Touchan. WHP Cardiology at Pease was formed in September 2017 by Dr. Mark Jacobs and Dr. Whitney Coppolino.
Dr. Touchan is also actively involved in efforts to reduce hospital admissions for heart failure, including visiting Congress with the American College of Cardiology Legislative Conference to lobby for improving healthcare access in vulnerable populations; extending cardiac rehab coverage; and suggesting an increase in cigarette taxes to reduce the burden of coronary artery disease.
When Dr. Touchan is not seeing patients or working as an activist, he enjoys walking and jogging, visiting new places, and watching movies or listening to music.
