About WDH

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is Part of the Massachusetts General Hospital Family

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital joined the Massachusetts General Hospital family on January 1, 2017. Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is now also part of Mass General Brigham, an integrated health care system founded by Mass General and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

While Mass General has clinical and programmatic affiliations with other hospitals in the region, Wentworth-Douglass is now the only hospital in New Hampshire to join the Mass General system.

As a patient, you will benefit from access to world renowned care as the two organizations work together to enhance the quality care available for patients and their families here on the Seacoast.

Clinical Affiliations

Since 2008, Wentworth-Douglass and Mass General have been collaborating to bring new sophisticated levels of care with world-class clinicians and expertise to this community, beginning with the Telestroke Program. Additional clinical affiliations now include:

Benefits

Together, Wentworth-Douglass and Mass General will continue to enhance and grow the quality care and services available for patients and their families in the community.

World Renowned Care
Patients will have access to more services locally, reducing the need to travel long distances for care. Patients will also have a direct link to Mass General for conditions and injuries that require high level (or quaternary) care.

Leading-Edge Protocols
Wentworth-Douglass will provide care with evidence based best practices created by the nation’s leading hospital. In conjunction with our existing network of skilled primary care and specialty providers, new skills and technology will mean cutting-edge care is available here in the Seacoast.

Seamless Information Sharing
Medical, diagnostic and pharmaceutical information is accessible by providers through a shared (and protected) electronic medical record system. This makes transitions in care safer and meets the challenges of the future in a more cost effective manner by reducing unnecessary testing for patients and improving the efficiency and coordination of care.

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital remains an independently licensed, not-for-profit, charitable health care organization, and maintain its own medical staff, community connections, and fundraising activities. It will continue to be governed by its Board of Trustees, which will include local trustees as well as five trustees appointed by Mass General.
