Together, Wentworth-Douglass and Mass General will continue to enhance and grow the quality care and services available for patients and their families in the community.
World Renowned Care
Patients will have access to more services locally, reducing the need to travel long distances for care. Patients will also have a direct link to Mass General for conditions and injuries that require high level (or quaternary) care.
Wentworth-Douglass will provide care with evidence based best practices created by the nation’s leading hospital. In conjunction with our existing network of skilled primary care and specialty providers, new skills and technology will mean cutting-edge care is available here in the Seacoast.
Seamless Information Sharing
Medical, diagnostic and pharmaceutical information will be accessible by providers through a shared (and protected) electronic medical record system. This makes transitions in care safer and meets the challenges of the future in a more cost effective manner by reducing unnecessary testing for patients and improving the efficiency and coordination of care.
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital remains an independently licensed, not-for-profit, charitable health care organization, and maintain its own medical staff, community connections, and fundraising activities. It will continue to be governed by its Board of Trustees, which will include local trustees as well as five trustees appointed by Mass General.
