In 2016, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital achieved Magnet recognition, the nation’s highest honor for excellence in nursing. The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence, professionalism, teamwork and superiority in patient care. With this designation, Wentworth-Douglass joins just 446 U.S. health care organizations out of more than 6,300 U.S. hospitals to have achieved Magnet recognition.
Wentworth-Douglass is one of a select group of 22 U.S. accredited cancer programs to receive this national honor. This award recognizes cancer programs that achieve excellence in compliance to the CoC Standards and provide the highest quality care to cancer patients.

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has received international recognition as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility recognizing our efforts to provide an optimum level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding.

The American Stroke Association's 2016 Get With the Guidelines Gold Achievement Award reflects our commitment to offering stroke patients top-quality care that adheres to the latest evidence-based clinical guidelines. Wentworth-Douglass has Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center from The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Wentworth Health Partners, the 26-practice multi-specialty group of WentworthDouglass Health System, has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation and Primary Care Medical Home Certification. This process involves evaluation of each practice office to ensure they provide the highest quality of care to patients according to nationally recognized standards set by The Joint Commission, which accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States. No other hospital or provider group has achieved this standard of care and recognition for ambulatory care in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and Southern Maine.
The Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Women & Children’s Center is recognized as a Bronze Certified Safe Sleep Hospital for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. It is one of only four hospitals in New Hampshire to receive this title.
Wentworth-Douglass was the first hospital in New Hampshire to earn Primary Stroke Center Advanced Certification by The Joint Commission, the nation's leading healthcare accrediting agency.
