Wentworth-Douglass Employee Spotlight: Julie Cole

"Employee Spotlight" is a bi-weekly feature for staff and the community to get the know the individuals that make Wentworth-Douglass Hospital a comfortable place for patients, and a great place to work for employees.

 

 

Julie Cole, MSN, RN, NPD-BC

 

1. What is your official job title?

Clinical Nurse Educator – I oversee the Simulation Center and the Nurse Residency Program

 

2. How long have you worked here?

15 years!

 

3. Please describe your typical day and responsibilities.

Every day is different!  I might be planning or overseeing multidisciplinary  simulations for various units, programming the high-fidelity mannequins, or teaching a nurse residency class.

 

4. Why did you choose to come to WDH?

The reputation of the WDH in the community! The formal orientation process for nurses.

 

5. What do you enjoy most about working here?

WDH’s focus on delivering high quality patient care and support for frontline clinical staff.  We all work together as a team.

 

6. How would you describe your work experience at WDH?

WDH is the fourth hospital that I have worked for and it is hands down the most patient and employee centered of all the organizations that I have worked for.

 

WDH has a culture of supporting professional growth for all employees. Managers work with employees to support them personally and professionally. I was encouraged to go back to school and complete my Masters in Nursing and I have attended specialized simulation training.

 

WDH is a very supportive organization for military spouses and their challenges they face during deployments. 

 

7. What would you say to someone who is considering applying to work here?

Reach out and talk to a current employee or come for a tour.  WDH is a great place to work and grow.

 

8.What is your favorite part of your job?

Seeing nurse residents and staff develop critical thinking and hands on skills.

1. What did you want to be when you grew up?

Nurse

 

2. What would your perfect day be like?

Spending time at a lake or beach with my family.

Saint Anselm College

 

4. What was your first job?

Babysitting.

 

5. What is your proudest moment?

Seeing my oldest son follow in his father’s career path into the Air Force and my youngest son graduate from high school.

 

6. What makes you laugh the most?

My husband and my kids.
