Pre-Registration and payment is required for the following classes along with a registration form:

There is no fee for the following classes, but pre-registration is required:

There is no pre-registration for the following:
- New Parent Support Group [held at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital]

The following classes are held at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover:
Prepared Childbirth Series
(One class per week for 6 weeks). This class reviews traditional childbirth education. Topics include an overview of labor, birth, medications, potential complications, postpartum and infant care. A tour of the Birth Center is included in this class.
Celebrating Pregnancy and Birth
Also a 6 week series, this class is for woman and couples who are interested in a deeper exploration of childbirth preparation. The class focuses on natural ways to cope with pain and fear. Several relaxation techniques will be taught to help you find which one works best for you. A tour of the Birth Center is included in this class.
Weekend Prepared Childbirth Class
This 2-day class has been designed as an alternative to the 6 week series. The same information is covered that would be received in 6 weeks. A tour of the Birth Center is included in this class.
Refresher Childbirth Class
This class is offered to those who have attended childbirth classes in a previous pregnancy. It is intended as an update on childbirth options. A tour of the Birth Center is included in this class.
Hypnobirthing Class
In this 5-week series, you will learn a relaxation technique using self-hypnosis to help you maintain an atmosphere of calm and relaxation during birth. This class will guide you through the philosophy and techniques of normal, gentle birthing. A tour of the Birth Center is part of this class.
Prenatal Yoga
This 6 week class is offered to you at any stage of your pregnancy and at any level of practice. Many women discover yoga for the first time during their pregnancy. Come and experience a deeper connection to you baby and sense of well-being. Yoga will help you prepare to give birth in an active and intuitive way, stretch and tone your body for an easier delivery and faster recovery. Learn to use the whole breath to relax and release fears for a gentler transition into motherhood. Taught by Birth Center nurses trained at Kirpalu in prenatal yoga. Wear comfortable clothing.
Breastfeeding Class
This class is intended for women who are planning on breastfeeding, or are considering breastfeeding. Lactation consultants will discuss the advantages of breastfeeding, how to get started and stay breastfeeding, how to continue breastfeeding once returning to work, and much more! Partners are strongly encouraged to attend as well.
The following classes are held at The Works Family Health & Fitness Center:
Prenatal Aquatics & Postpartum Exercise Class
This is a 6-week series for women who are pregnant or in the postpartum period and is held at The Works Health and Fitness Center. The class consists of aerobic and strengthening exercises and relaxation techniques.

Birth Center Tour
A tour of the Birth Center is given for those not attending childbirth classes or those who would like to see the Birth Center.
Waterbirth Class
This class is required for those who want waterbirth as an option for delivery.
We will discuss the benefits of underwater birth, what to expect during labor and birth, and when the waterbirth tub is appropriate. Please check with your midwife or doctor to know if this may be an option for your birth. A tour of the Birth Center and the tub is part of this class.
Cesarean Delivery Class
This class is intended for those who are expecting to have a Cesarean birth (C-section). We will discuss what to expect when you arrive at the Birth Center and the process of preparing you for your birth. A tour of the Birth Center is part of this class.
Sibling Class
Brothers and sisters to be will learn about how their new baby will be born and talk about what it will be like to be a big brother or sister. This free class is intended for children ages 3 and older.
Grandparents Class
This class is designed to help grandparents understand the changes in childbirth today and ways to support the new parents. A tour of the Birth Center is part of this class.
* Siblings at Birth
This class is for big brothers and sisters who will be present during the birth of their new baby! Children will learn about the hospital equipment they will see, the stages of labor and how they can help, and what the new baby will look like during the delivery. Families will watch a movie and tour the Birth Center. We work with each family to share this information in the way they are most comfortable.

New Parent Support Group
Come and meet other new parents and discuss topics of concern to you. Facilitated by lactation consultants and child life specialists.
Breastfeeding Support Group
Held on the first Monday of each month, this group is facilitated by lactation consultants and designed for breastfeeding mothers, looking for support and strategies for incorporating breast-feeding into your life.
Class for after baby is born:
Caring Touch Through Infant Massage: Instruction for Parents
This 2 series class is designed for parents to learn the art of infant massage. Massage will strengthen the bond between you and your baby, provide relaxation and soothing for your baby, and help you become sensitive to your baby’s non-verbal cues. This class is intended for babies 3 weeks to 6 months of age.
