David Flavin, MD, of Gastroenterology, PA, is this year’s recipient of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s President’s Award. The President’s Award is the highest honor given at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital (WDH). During the award ceremony, Dr. Flavin was surprised with kind words from friends and colleagues and a visit from his family.
WDH President & CEO Gregory Walker said Dr. Flavin is truly worthy of winning this award. Walker said he found common themes in Dr. Flavin’s nomination letters stating he is a compassionate, humble person with a zest for life.
“There are some people who are born to be givers,” said Walker, “and Dr. David Flavin is one such individual, both in his professional life and his personal life. He has and continues to lead by example.”
Dr. Flavin was recognized early in his career with The Roche Award for Outstanding Student of Clinical Medicine at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, an award given to only one student in his graduating class. He has thrived since then in leadership roles as well as helping those less fortunate at soup kitchens and more.
“Dave has done much to enhance the quality of care available to the residents of the Seacoast through his leadership both as a medical staff leader and a member of the Hospital’s Board of Trustees,” said Walker. “However, he is best known as an excellent physician.”
