03/12 Dr. Blitzer selected for NH Medical Society's Board of Trustees
Dr. Charles Blitzer, an orthopedic surgeon at Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Somersworth, NH, has been selected to serve as a Trustee for the New Hampshire Medical Society (NHMS).
Founded in 1791, The New Hampshire Medical Society is a voluntary organization of licensed physicians. The Society serves as an advocate for physicians and patients, and is typically involved with issues such as public health, health insurance, liability insurance and tort reform, children’s health, medical records, and prescription drugs. According to NHMS, the Trustees are the guardians of all the special funds of the Society.
“I am delighted to take part in carrying out the mission of the Society,” states Dr. Blitzer. “The principle of bringing physicians together to advocate for the well-being of our patients, the profession of practicing medicine, and the improvement of public health is in line with my personal and professional beliefs. It is an honor to have been asked to serve as a Trustee for such an esteemed organization.”
Dr. Blitzer, a past president of NHMS, specializes in trauma and fracture surgery. He earned his medical degree from the Boston University accelerated combined AB/MD program. He completed an internship in general surgery at Baystate Medical Center, an affiliate of Tufts University, and an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Vermont. He also trained at the Montreal Children’s Hospital/McGill University as a pediatric orthopedic resident. Dr. Blitzer is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He served on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Board of Councilors and has been recognized for his humanitarian work as he regularly travels abroad to provide orthopedic services to the disadvantaged in the developing world.
