2012 Raiche Family donates $10,000 to name room in honor of Gert Raiche
A series of positive impressions of Wentworth-Douglass Hospital during their life time influenced Larry Raiche and his wife Joanne’s decision to donate $10,000 to the Hospital’ new Garrison Wing. The gift will name a staff lounge on the fourth floor in honor of Larry Raiche’s mother, Gert Raiche, a former Wentworth-Douglass Hospital employee. Larry Raiche is also a new member of the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital & Health Foundation Board.
“We’ve really been impressed with the Hospital over the years. In just the short time I’ve been on the Foundation Board I’ve learned so much more about the Hospital, its partnerships, the level of care, the quality of the staff and the services offered.”
Raiche made the donation in his mother’s name to recognize her for all she’s done for him. “When I was in high school and choosing colleges I wanted to go to Boston College,” he said. “Tuition was more than we could afford, but my mom made the sacrifice to increase her part-time job to full-time work at the Hospital in order to help pay the tuition… I’m really grateful for what she did for me.” Larry’s wife, Joanne, states “Gert is one of the most generous people I’ve ever met, so it’s very fitting to be able to make this donation in her honor.”
After graduating from Boston College with a business degree Raiche went on to establish Raiche and Company, CPAs, P.A. in 1980, the longest running public accounting firm in Dover, NH. In accounting terms, Raiche describes Wentworth-Douglass Hospital as “a real community asset.” He explained, “Sooner or later we all have to benefit from the Hospital. It makes me feel good to know the Hospital offers the highest quality service. Everyone should be proud we have this great asset right here in Dover.”
Raiche’s mom, Gert, retired from her role as an administrative assistant in the Dietary Department at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after 25 years of service and continues to support Hospital events, Auxiliary card parties and birthday celebrations of former co-workers. Larry and Joanne Raiche live in Dover with their three children.
