2012 Donna Soares wins Auxilian/Volunteer of the Year Award
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Auxilian Donna Soares was named Auxilian/Volunteer of Year during the NH Association of Hospital Auxiliaries Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
Donna has been a part of the WDH Auxiliary for 13 years and has logged more than 1,500 hours as a volunteer. She has served as vice-president and president of the Auxiliary and is the current Ways and Means Chairman. She is also the manager of the Auxiliary’s Gift Shop in the Hospital. According to WDH Auxiliary President Roni Morse, Donna supports the Auxiliary with her drive and dedication.
“This woman is dedicated, hard working, persistent and optimistic,” said Roni. “Each of these qualities is amazing in and of itself but all together makes for an outstanding individual. She is well respected by everyone who meets her. Everyone is special to her.”
Donna’s most current accomplishment was managing the successful transformation of the Gift Shop. She evaluated reports, studies the operation of the register and trained the other volunteers.
“There were weeks when 60 hours or more was common for her,” said Roni. “She listened to each volunteer and made sure that every need was met during the transition.”
