Wentworth-Douglass Hospital & Health Foundation
2011 Steinbergs donate $30,000 to WDH for Family Education Center
Twenty three years ago Mike and Laurie Steinberg named their company Relyco – a name that stands for “a company you can rely on.” During this time the Steinbergs also became a family “a community can rely on” to support programs and services that improve education, health care and family.

“We firmly believe you have to give back,” Mike Steinberg said. He and his wife Laurie, a retired Title I teacher, and their family of three children and six grandchildren believe strongly in the importance of education and family. When considering a donation to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s new Women and Children’s Center they chose to give $30,000 to name the Family Education Center. “It fit our commitment to community and education and family in every way,” Steinberg said.

In addition to his donation to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital (WDH) and a similar contribution to the Children’s Museum of NH, Steinberg gives generously of his time to serve on local committees and boards. He epitomizes Relyco’s Core Value of Community Service highlighted in a statement prominently displayed on his office desk - “Relyco recognizes that enriching the lives and welfare of the individuals within our communities is not a moral obligation, but an honor and a privilege.”

According to Hospital President & CEO Gregory Walker, FACHE, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is the grateful recipient of Steinberg’s service as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees, member of the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital & Health Foundation Board and Chairman of The Works Family Health & Fitness Board.

“We appreciate everything Mike has given to this Hospital in so many ways.” Walker said. “His energy, enthusiasm and sense of service are truly admirable. The donation from Mike and Laurie reflects a generosity that is deep and enduring.”

Healthcare service is a natural for Steinberg whose personal health has taken many unexpected turns. He survived a heart attack and open heart surgery a few years ago and early in 2011 was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Following successful robotic surgery at WDH, Steinberg quickly returned to his early morning racquetball sessions and fast-paced printing solution business. On a quick tour of Relyco’s headquarters in Dover, he discussed the evolution of a business that focuses on innovation and customer service. “We treat others as we would like to be treated,” Steinberg said. “It’s all about service in this business and every business. It’s the most important thing we do.”
