Funding Priorities

Cardiovascular Care Center
To keep pace with new technology and equipment advances in heart care.

Care-Vans
The five Care-Vans provide complimentary transportation for qualifying patients to and from the Hospital.

Charity Care
The Hospital provided over $19 Million in charity care in 2011.

Children's Care Projects
The Hospital provides Child Life Specialists that help children and families understand tests, treatments, and procedures.  Other programs include: Camp Meridian for kids with heart disease; Diabetes Camp for Kids; and pediatric workshops addressing many topics affecting children.

Dental Center
The Dental Center provides dental care to low income, uninsured, and underserved patients in our community.  Since opening in June 2005, more than 5,000 patients have received over $5 Million in treatments.

Diabetes Programs
The Hospital provides financial support to diabetic patients who cannot afford to purchase the supplies they need to keep their diabetes in control.

Endowment Fund
A fund of money, the principal of which is held in perpetuity and invested.  The Hospital may use only the return on investment for approved projects and programs.

Healing Garden
The Healing Garden was designed to bring the elements of a natural environment directly to the practice of medicine.  The garden will be a place where patients, families, visitors, and employees can go to spend some time with nature to reduce stress and promote healing.

Integrative Medicine and Wellness Center
Enhances patient care by providing "high touch" therapies such as massage, Reiki, acupuncture, and music that reduces stress and affirms the mind-body-spirit connection.

Joint Replacement Center
The Joint Replacement Center brings together a team of caring surgeons and multidisciplinary staff of nurses and therapists to help patients regain a new lease on life.  This unit is dedicated specifically to the care of knee, hip, and shoulder replacement patients.

Palliative Care Program
Palliative care refers to patient and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life by anticipating, preventing, and treating suffering.

Seacoast Cancer Center
To keep pace with new technology and equipment advances in cancer care.

Women & Children's Center
The Women & Children's Center in the Garrison Wing includes the Hannaford Special Care Nursery, C-section operating room, water birth room, family playroom, and dedicated pediatric rooms.

Nicole Gagne Memorial Fund
A fund established in memory of Nicole to support educational programs.

Ellen M. George Endowment Fund
A fund established in memory of Ellen to support the purchase of equipment for the Seacoast Cancer Center.

Cindy Scagliotti Endowment Fund
A fund established in memory of Cindy to purchase equipment for the Seacoast Cancer Center.

Lindsay Jo Chisholm Memorial Fund
A fund established in memory of Lindsay to support practicing nurses who wish to advance their education (open to critical care nurses in CCU, ICU, ED, PACU, OR, Cath Lab).

 Nursing Scholarship Endowment Funds

* The Edna Dube and Wentworth Hospital Nursing Alumni Nursing Scholarship Endowment - provides scholarships for nurses employed by WDH that are pursuing advanced nursing education.

* Helen Garland Grant Nursing Scholarship Fund - provides scholarships for WDH employees that wish to enter nursing and are taking nursing classes.
