The Wound Healing Institute (WHI) at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital offers a team approach to wound, ostomy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy care. WHI works to heal wounds such as, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, burns, non-healing surgical and/or traumatic wounds. WHI has established a healing rate of 8 weeks versus the national average of 16 weeks. WHI offers an Ostomy Care Clinic, where we see individuals with ostomy self care concerns or complications. WHI offers a Foot Care Clinic, where we see individuals who are unable to safely trim their own nails. WHI evaluates and treats patients and residents at some of the area skilled nursing facilities, long term care facilities and assisted living centers. WHI also works collaboratively within the inpatient setting.

Insurance: Services provided at WHI are usually a covered benefit. We recommend you check with your insurance company to verify coverage. If you insurance does not cover the service, you may still receive the service for an out-of-pocket fee. You may inquire about financial assistance if needed.
Referrals: Primary care or specialist referral is preferred; however, patients may self-refer if necessary.

Location: WHI is located in Wentworth-Douglass Hospital at the south entrance of the building. Use elevators 8 or 9 to go down to Level B.
Accessibility: WHI is ADA accessible and can accommodate wheelchairs, stretchers, and motorized scooters. The hospital also offers a free Care-Van service within the Seacoast area for patients who need transportation to appointments at the hospital.
