Diabetes Services

Diabetes Services is dedicated to helping you live successfully with diabetes. We provide individualized diabetes education and self-management training for children and adults, in private and small group sessions. As an educator-based practice, we strive to supplement the services provided by your physician, and work in a cooperative effort with your entire health care team. Diabetes Services at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital meets the national standards for Diabetes self-management education by the American Diabetes Association.

Our outpatient Diabetes Services are offered at the Wentworth-Douglass Professional Building off Exit 9 of the Spaulding Turnpike at 10 Members Way, Dover, NH.

Our Diabetes Services program covers all aspects of Type 1, Type 2, Pre-Diabetes and gestational diabetes. After an initial visit, a plan will be tailored to you and may cover:

  • Why is monitoring important?
  • Should I buy a meter?
  • What to eat?
  • Understanding some basics about diabetes
  • Exercise (programs at The Works Family Health & Fitness Center)
  • Guidelines for how to eat on sick days (illness, dental procedure, operation or stressful event that effects your eating)
  • Foot care
