Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is the 1st in NH recognized with Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission in conjunction with The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
We provide the next generation of stroke care to achieve better outcomes for our patients.
If you suffer a stroke, we use our state-of-the-art diagnostic criteria to most safely select whether or not you should undergo thrombolytic therapy. This therapy can open up closed arteries to the brain to reverse the injury and protect the brain.
Through our affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital, we can access their stroke specialists by telemedicine. Telemedicine allows the stroke specialists to interact with patients and providers in real-time. The physicians can remotely diagnose the patient's condition and recommend a plan of care.
