Wentworth-Douglass Hospital offers a range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and therapeutic services for children, from infancy through adolescence.
Physicians on or affiliated with the medical staff provide services to children in Anesthesia, Neurology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Emergency/trauma, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Otolaryngology, Gastroenterology, Pediatric Medicine, General Surgery, Radiology, Genetics and Urology.
We support patient- and family-centered care and recognize the role that parents and families play in the health and healing of their children. You are encouraged to actively participate in your child's care along with members of the health care team.
Inpatient Services
As part of the Women & Children's unit, our inpatient area serves over 300 children and families each year. You are encouraged to stay with your child during the entire visit. Amenities include open visiting hours, private patient rooms with sleeping couches, a security system, free Wi-Fi and meals available for parents/caregivers.
Nursing staff are skilled in the care of pediatric patients. Registered nurses have training in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). The services of our Child Life Specialist are available to address the unique developmental and coping needs of each patient, through play and diversional activities. The unit has a Play Room with activities and toys, a video game system and a variety of other diversional activites. For Newborns - Special Care Nursery Also located on the Women & Children's unit, the Special Care Level II Nursery is an area designed to care for newborn infants with significant medical needs, such as prematurity.
Outpatient Services
Wentworth-Douglass Hospital benefits from an affiliation with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Children's Hospital to provide specialty outpatient services to children via our CHaD at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital clinic.
