The Heart Disease Prevention & Lipid Center specializes in the treatment of patients with complex, abnormal blood lipids (fatty substances in the blood) and uncontrolled high cholesterol.

  • Board-certified Clinical Lipidologist
  • Nutrition referral and assessment
  • Fitness specialist referral and assessment
  • Advanced laboratory and radiology services

Who are Lipid Specialists?

Lipid specialists work as a multi-disciplinary branch of medicine focusing on lipid metabolism and their associated disorders. A team of medical doctors, nurses, dietitians and fitness specialists work collaboratively to treat the entire spectrum of lipid disorders.

Who can benefit from a Lipid Center?

  • Anyone who would like to understand and explore their own risks of having a possible heart attack or stroke in the future and learn about the methods of prevention.
  • Individuals who have been already diagnosed with heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and would like to improve the odds of not having a heart attack or stroke down the road.
  • Anyone who has a family history of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol.
  • Anyone who has been unable to lower LDL cholesterol to a normal level after six months to one year of treatment.

What can patients expect?

Patients of the Lipid Center can expect to:

  • Record your medical background, as well as your family history
  • Record your current lifestyle regarding nutrition, physical activity, stress
  • Meet with the medical provider to review history, risk factors, and set treatment goals
  • Laboratory testing and/or radiology testing to determine current lipid levels
  • Referrals to nutrition and exercise team
